TOURISM AT HUMAN SCALE · MEASURED WITH A PUBLIC METHODOLOGY
Behind every place there's someone. Big chains buy visibility; they have their work. Generant puts it in plain sight, with data, before you book.

Reviews and the Mark
Stars measure the traveler's experience. The Mark looks at the other half: the people who work there, what gets bought nearby, the energy and water used. 13 indicators, with documents behind them. The same booking, told from the place.
See assessed operatorsGOOD PEOPLE, GOOD PLACES
Every trip leaves something behind. The hard part is knowing what, and with whom. The same night can buy food from local growers or ship it in. It can pay local wages or leave as commission. From the outside, both look the same. The Mark shows the difference with data: energy and water per guest, how much of what you spend stays nearby, and which programmes a place supports. Each value is backed by documents.
How the Mark works
The Regenerative Tourism writes the methodology and keeps it public. Generant is where you see it: the app, and every operator profile.
Every operator, from a five-bed guesthouse to a one-day tour, answers the same assessment: 13 indicators across three pillars. Nobody pays to pass.
Footprint, Roots and Regeneration combine into one number from 0 to 100. No pillar hides another: a weak footprint isn't offset by good projects.
Before you book and after you travel. Operators show a number they can back up; travelers see what it's based on and keep a record of the places they chose.

Operators upload documents against the public rubric. A value without a document counts for less than a documented one, and a Mark is published only when energy, water and carbon are documented and someone on the Generant team has reviewed it. The review is ours, not an independent certifier's. Every Mark is recalculated every 12 months. Operators pay to be listed; the score doesn't depend on payment.

A community of travelers and operators who believe that travelling differently changes what stays behind in each place. Once a month: who joined, what they measured and what we learned.
FOR OPERATORS
Family guesthouses, guides, small-group experiences: Generant puts what each operation does, indicator by indicator, on a public profile travelers can compare. Getting assessed is free, and publishing is each operator's call.

Your work, where travelers can see it
A number you earn, not buy
In front of travelers who compare on data
A clear path to improve, at your own pace
Part of a community, not a listing. The first 30 operators are shaping the methodology.

THE TRAVELER APP
Plan your trips, find assessed operators nearby, scan each visit, and watch your record grow: the places, people and communities you chose. One trip is a choice. A year of them is who you are.

What is Generant?
Generant is an app and a site for choosing where to stay and what to do by looking beyond stars. Every published operator (stays, guides, experiences) has a Mark from 0 to 100 across three pillars: Footprint, Roots and Regeneration, calculated with The Regenerative Tourism's public methodology.
Is Generant free for travelers?
Yes. Seeing the Mark, exploring assessed operators and building your record are free. Operators pay a subscription to be listed; travelers never pay.
What is the Mark?
The Mark is a score from 0 to 100 that shows how an operator performs on 13 indicators across three pillars: Footprint, Roots and Regeneration. It is calculated with a public methodology, reviewed by Generant and recalculated every 12 months. It is not a certification or an eco-label.
How do operators get their Mark?
An operator completes an assessment across the three pillars and uploads documents such as bills, payroll and contracts; it saves as you go. A value without a document counts for less than a documented one, and the Mark is published only after someone on the team has reviewed it. Getting assessed is free. Publishing the Mark in Discover costs €30/month for founding operators and €60/month after that.
How is it different from a sustainability certification?
A certification says pass or fail and is awarded by an independent body. The Mark is a score from 0 to 100 on the same 13 indicators for everyone, reviewed by Generant against documents, without on-site audits, and recalculated every 12 months. It doesn't pass or fail anyone: it shows where each operator stands and what it can improve.
Is Generant the same as The Regenerative Tourism?
No. The Regenerative Tourism writes and maintains the methodology behind the Mark. Generant is where it becomes visible: the app and the operator profiles. Both belong to the same group, and the methodology page says so.
